Steeped in history, it was founded in 1680 and was a focus of struggle between the Spanish and the Portuguese over control of the area.

With most houses built in Portuguese style on cobblestoned streets, this historic and gourgeous portion of Colonia is reminiscent of old Lisbon with many art and craft shops.
